While not prone to violence, I have a terrible urge to slap anybody who says to a person with dementia, "Do you remember me?" I once said to a woman who asked that of an elderly lady at a church event, "Just tell her who you are." Rude, but it kept me from slapping the offending woman.
ReplyDeleteWhen my nephew used to ask my sister if she knew me, I would quickly give her a hug and whisper my name in her ear. She would look at me and say, "Yes!" Such a simple solution.
Amazing that it is so obvious to some and not to others?
